The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of September 25th

It’s a big week of releases with some electric headliners. What else could you want as a comic reader? So, let’s look at a fun slate in this week’s edition of The Pull.

Comic of the Week: Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween #1

This series is one of the easiest sells of the year, as it finds Jeph Loeb and a gaggle of incredible artists — including Eduardo Risso here, along with series colorist Dave Stewart and letterer Richard Starkings — finishing the trilogy of Batman stories Loeb and artist Tim Sale did together. More than that, it’s a lengthy tribute to the greatness of Sale, someone whose work always impressed in all the ways you’d want it to. I’m terribly excited to read this, and to see what each artist throughout this run brings to this project.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: We3 the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition

I’m not sure where it’d rank for me, but We3 isn’t just one of my favorite Grant Morrison and/or Frank Quitely comic, but a comic that would be on my long list for my favorite comics ever. If you’ve never read this comic about pets of mass destruction and what happens when the U.S. military decides they’re more trouble than they’re worth, then this 20th anniversary edition is the perfect opportunity to make up for that oversight. This is a great one.
