The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of September 16th
Well, this is an unusual edition of The Pull, as I start this highlight reel of my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics by touting…a comic that comes out on Saturday???? Weird! But hey, sometimes that’s the way things work, so let’s get to the week that is in comic shops.

Comic of the Week: Batman of Two Worlds #1
This isn’t a Wednesday release, but when you have a lineup of creators like Matt Fraction, Scott Snyder, Javier Fernandez, and Nick Derington and a story that promises to find Original Flavor Batman and Absolute Batman appearing in the same comic for the first time, then you have to highlight it. This issue drops on Batman Day, aka Saturday, September 19th, so it is a release this week, and it’s one I’ll definitely be picking up just to see what this team cooks up for readers. I don’t think it’ll be a transcendent read, but with Fernandez and particularly Derington on art, it has an extremely high floor, so I’m here for it.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Record Journey Vol. 2
I’m recommending this here because Record Journey is superb, a wonderful slice of life series about humanity and music and more, so you should be reading it. But I wanted to give it a special shout out here too because Record Journey’s creator, Ryoichiro Kezuka, passed away at 36 earlier this year. It’s very sad to see, but this new release offers us the opportunity to celebrate him by reading the latest volume of his manga series. Rest in peace to one heck of a talent.
