The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of December 17th

It’s a big week of notable releases, with an ending and a beginning battling for the top spot. Tie goes to the visionary voice, though, so let’s dig into that and more as I share my buys, recommendations, and curiosities in another edition of The Pull.

Comic of the Week: Wrestle Heist #1

I’ve read the first issue of this series, and this is Kyle Starks at his best. Think Ocean’s 11 meets Wrestlemania, with series lead Sterling Steele being an immediate all-time great Starks character. This one’s going to be the perfect mix of entertaining, action-packed, and emotional, just like all of his best books are. I’m 12 out of 10 into it, and if you’re looking for a fun comic with a heart of gold, Wrestle Heist is for you.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Batman and Robin: Year One TP

This is one of my favorite superhero titles in recent memory, as Chris Samnee, Mark Waid, Mat Lopes, and Clayton Cowles did something incredibly entertaining and purely enjoyable in this 12 issue series. If you missed it in single issue form, this trade (and the hardcover that also arrives this week) collects it in its entirety. Come for the grand criminal conspiracy Batman and his young ward Robin take on here, stay for some of the best art of the year.
