The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of March 27th

A loaded week of comics is led by the rarest of morsels: a double Chip on top! That’s right. It’s double the Zdarsky, double the fun as we highlight the week’s releases in The Pull.

Comic of the Week: Newburn #16

And thus ends the journey of Easton Newburn, a king and scourge of the mafia, and a character I’ve been awfully fond of throughout even if he is pretty inarguably a weird and ultraviolent dude. Seeing where things are going to end as Chip Zdarsky and Jacob Phillips had the guy burning everything to the ground towards the end should be pretty interesting! Plus, that final cover and its callback to the first issue really makes me wonder where his teammate Emily’s story will end. This has been a great, underrated series, and I’ll be sad to see it go.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Sex Criminals: The Complete Edition

If you haven’t read Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky’s Image series about — in a wildly oversimplified sense — a couple who both have powers that make them stop time when they orgasm, which they then use to rob banks, then this is an ideal time to get on it! While I have mixed emotions about collections that contain this many issues, as 31 is an awful lot, I trust Fraction and Zdarsky to make it work as well as anyone. Plus, it’s just a great comic and promises some fun bonus material, all at a pretty reasonable price of $50. What’s not to like? I highly recommend picking this one up. It’s a good one.
