The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of October 12th

There’s hot competition at the top this week, but there can only be one, and in this case, tie goes to the title ending. Let’s look at all of that and more in this week’s edition of The Pull.

Book of the Week: Once and Future #30

And with this issue, Once and Future ends. This BOOM! series from Kieron Gillen, Dan Mora, Tamra Bonvillain, and Ed Dukeshire has sort of quietly been one of the best single issue titles in comics over the past couple years. And unlike some of its peers in longevity — and let’s face it, 30 issues is an eternity in 2022 — it hasn’t just kept up its quality, it’s only gotten better as the near became nigh. It has been consistently surprising, consistently entertaining, and consistently well-crafted, from Gillen’s writing to Mora and Bonvillain’s visuals and Dukeshire’s lettering. More than that, it’s a blast to read, a blockbuster comic with brains to go with it.

I’m going to miss this series, but if the rest of the series has taught me anything, it’s that I’ll love whatever the team decides to do with the story at its close. I can’t wait to read it.
