The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of April 6th

A relatively light week comes with some top notch headliners. But as per usual, there can only be one at the top, so let’s look at that and more in this week’s edition of The Pull.

Book of the Week: X-Men Red #1

Al Ewing in SPAAAAAACEEEEEE!

Okay, that’s an oversimplification, but Ewing and Stefano Caselli working on the intergalactic politics foundation the former built in S.W.O.R.D. — with an increased emphasis on Arakki happenings and Abigail Brand as an active and clear frenemy — is everything I could ask for in an X-Men title right now. It’s also a probable co-headliner with Immortal X-Men for the Krakoan Era of the X-Men, as the chances of consequential events playing out here are equally high as there, just perhaps in a slightly different way.

Big things happening is only one advantage this title has. The biggest is the presence of Ewing and Caselli. The former is one of, if not the, best in the business today at writing superhero comics. The latter is one of the most underrated superhero artists of the past 15 years in my book. Combine the two and they could work on basically anything and I’d be down. Pair the two on a title filled with as much potential intrigue as this one, and I am all the way onboard.
