The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of June 18th
We have a dense edition of The Pull this time, so let’s get straight to it, as we highlight my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics, with that led by the grand finale to a rather unexpected hit with yours truly.

Comic of the Week: Aliens vs. Avengers #4
This comic had a high baseline with Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic onboard, and as a big fan of both the Alien franchise and Marvel as a whole, there was a lot of potential to it as well. It’s just…these types of titles are rarely great. And yet, here we are, with Aliens vs. Avengers living up to its floor and its ceiling. I love this comic, and I cannot wait to see what the team cooks up with this finale. Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s going to be spectacular in ways I cannot even anticipate.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Where Monsters Lie Vol. 2 — Cull-De-Sac
This is the second volume of Where Monsters Lie, a series of miniseries from Kyle Starks and Piotr Kowalski about a gated community for slasher villains when they’re not…you know, taking out summer camps and haunting beachside towns or whatever. Or at least that’s what it’s about to start with. It quickly becomes a story of revenge and finding your way through trauma and finding pals in this world, even when they’re a giant murderous dog and/or a serial killer named Fuckmaster. It’s highly entertaining and always unexpected, and this second volume is even better than the first one. This is Grade A Kyle Starks, and that’s saying something.
