The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of October 22nd
It’s kind of a funky week of releases, with an abbreviated list from yours truly. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t greatness, as we get to highlight some great continuing series and a new format for an old favorite. So, let’s cover all that and more in this week’s edition in The Pull.

Comic of the Week: Ultimates #17
An Ultimate Fantastic Four centric issue that brings artist Phil Noto back to the book? Giving the series an echo of its finest moment in issue #4? And right on the heels of the reveal that this series is wrapping with #24? That’s a lot of juice, and in a light week of big books, it makes Ultimates’ latest edition an easy pick for yours truly.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Y: the Last Man Vol. 1 Compact Comics Edition
One of my favorite comics ever is hopefully getting introduced to a completely new audience with its Compact Comics Edition, as Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s classic Vertigo series is getting collected in the digest-sized and extremely reasonably priced series of collections. This isn’t a photocopy of the first trade either. This is the first ten issues for $9.99. That’s amazing! If you’re new to Y: The Last Man, this is a perfect gateway for you, even if it’s hard to imagine DC publishing the rest of the series in this format. They seem to be one and done with ongoings like these, which is fine by me, as they’re meant to be a foot in the door as much as anything else.
