The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of July 15th

It’s a big week of comics, but a light one for interesting collections and graphic novels. So, we’re only having one pick of the week this time, but it’s still a big one, as I highlight my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics in another edition of The Pull.

Comic of the Week: A Mischief of Magpies #1

After much, much, much, much ado, A Mischief of Magpies #1 is here, and boy oh boy am I ready for this big boy release. Si Spurrier and Matías Bergara are a team supreme, and while I’m a bit uneasy about Mat Lopes not coloring this one as he typically does for Bergara — Kike J. Díaz is coloring it — I have no doubt these visuals will deliver. The story itself sounds like an intriguing, character-driven portal fantasy, but if I’m being honest, I’m here to see Spurrier set the ball up on the tee for Bergara to hit a mile. There aren’t many artists doing it like him, and I’m excited to see his work in this fully embiggened way.
