It’s an incredibly light week for me, which is strange because it’s a very heavy one from a release standpoint. I guess that’s just how things work sometimes, but that’s alright! It’s still a fun week of comics, so let’s look at my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics in another edition of The Pull.

Comic of the Week: The Flash #37

The current run from Ryan North and Gavin Guidry has been an absolute pleasure, a treat of a run that expands on Wally West’s capabilities while still feeling like it’s rooted in the character’s identity and relationships. Combine that with Guidry’s Chris Samnee-like approach to the title, and The Flash is a real winner these days. That said, this issue has an all-time level of dissonance between its cover and its solicit, with the former touting a showdown on Mount Everest and the latter mentioning nothing of the sort. Weird! I suppose the comic itself will tell the tale, so we shall see if the covers and interiors match each other in the end.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Void No. Nine Vol. 2

This manga series from Shima Shinya debuted earlier this year, but it came to my attention when I was chatting with the Yen Press crew and I immediately fell in love with its cover design. It’s gorgeous, sleek, and sharp, and it’s the type of thing that will immediately catch my eye when it happens in comics. Unfortunately, I forgot about it since, but seeing the cover for this second volume reminded me I need to get onboard and see if this story of a ruined future, three groups of scavengers, and the dead god that they’re in pursuit of can match the excitement its cover inspires.
