The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of December 8th

I’m still coming back to life after Emerald City Comic Con, but hey, the comics keep on coming. Let’s look at what I’m excited for in this week’s edition of The Pull.

Book of the Week: One-Star Squadron #1

I bought this from writer Mark Russell himself at Emerald City Comic Con, and while I haven’t read it yet, I have little doubt that it’s going to be a ridiculously fun, absurdly smart comic. I told Russell that he has great luck with Steves, as he previously thrived with Steve Pugh and even Stephen Byrne. Now he’s teaming up with Steve Lieber, one of the best in the business. This could be even better. Based off everything we know about their strengths – intelligence, comic timing, character work, etc. – they overlap perfectly with one another, and when you pair all of that with a fun concept and a bizarre cast, you have a high probability high quality book.

I can’t wait. Or, rather, I can, as I’ve been pretty busy and haven’t read it yet. But I’m excited nonetheless! Mark Russell + Steves of all varieties = winning for comic fans. Let’s get it.
