The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of January 15th
It’s another incredibly dense week of releases to kick off 2025, as each category is overwhelmed with possible choices. Let’s get to my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics, though, with this week’s slate led by a couple personal faves.
Comic of the Week: Nights #12
This is the finale to the first season of Nights, Wyatt Kennedy, Luigi Formisano, and friends’ Image Comics series. It is basically a complete refutation of my whole “Nights is about chill vibes, man” take, and a perfect conclusion to this part of the story. Yes, I have read it. No, those are not real spoilers. But I’ll say this: With this first season ending here, there’s no better time to catch up. This is an explosive issue and one that’s part of a phenomenal 12 issue run. Read Nights! It’s good for you!
Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Kaijumax Complete Collection Vol. 1
Did you really think there would be a new Kaijumax release and I wouldn’t find a way to talk about it? Don’t be silly. This Complete Collection series is the paperback answer to the previous hardbacks, and it finds the entire series being collected in three reasonably priced softcovers. So, if you have not read Zander Cannon’s Kaijumax — which is only one of my all-time favorite comics — this is a great time to jump in. This collects 12 issues of the 36 issue series into a single book for $39.99! That’s amazing! It’s such a good deal I want to buy it again, but I won’t because that’d be weird. Do so for me, and enjoy this unique and incredible series.
