The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of January 25th

It’s a week of big releases in comics, so let’s break down my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics in another edition of The Pull to help sort through it.

Book of the Week: Batman – One Bad Day: Catwoman #1

What a dreadful decision I was asked to make here. Ultimately, it came down to a battle between friends — Kieron Gillen versus Jamie McKelvie — for the top spot. But even though I’m genuinely more excited to read Sins of Sinister #1 for general X-Men/Gillen enthusiasm reasons, I’m giving the top spot to the complicatedly titled comic that is Batman – One Bad Day: Catwoman #1. And there’s one reason for it: I’m just happy to see extended interiors from McKelvie.

A lot’s been going on in the world, so understandably, the artist has dialed things back. But he’s one of the best artists in the business, full stop, when he’s working. And this comic finds him collaborating with the great G. Willow Wilson in a comic about a perfect character for him in Catwoman and with him trying on some new techniques while coloring himself. I genuinely cannot wait to experience this comic. It’s going to be a beauty, and a read that I will absolutely treasure.
