The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of July 22nd

Another big week, albeit one without an ultra headliner. It does bring the return – of a sort! – of an old favorite, so let’s get to that and more in this week’s edition of The Pull.

Book of the Week: Chu #1

I love Chew, and I love John Layman’s writing. That does the bulk of the work here. The fact that Chu is an inversion of Chew, starring Tony Chu’s criminal sister Saffron with similar food-based gifts makes it an even easier decision. Combine that all with Dan Boultwood’s rather charming art, and we have an easy sell here, as well as an exciting return, especially after Layman made it clear he can have a lot more fun with this world in Outer Darkness/Chew.

Plus: it seems like a fun comic, and honestly, I could always use more of those. Excited to see what the crew does here, and how it connects with the rest of the Chewniverse.
