The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of March 12th

Folks, we have a loaded week in The Pull, so let’s get straight into this look at my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics, with it led by what might be the top Comic of the Week from the entire year.

Comic of the Week: Assorted Crisis Events #1

I already talked about this when writer Deniz Camp was on the podcast, but Assorted Crisis Events is a great comic. So great that a) I suspect it will be the best new comic series of 2025, b) it’s a lock for The SKTCHD AWRDS later this year, and c) it should not be missed by any of you. I’ve read the first two issues. The first is great. The second is a staggering bit of comic booking that will haunt and entertain you in equal measures. Camp has told me he thinks it only gets better the further it goes along. It’s hard to imagine what that will look like, but Assorted Crisis Events is a must read in a rare way.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: East of West: The End Time Compendium

If you like Jonathan Hickman for his work in the Ultimate universe leading title Ultimate Spider-Man and Nick Dragotta for his work in the Absolute universe leading title Absolute Batman, well, you’d probably love East of West. This modern Image Comics classic is incredible, an exceptional series featuring a dark version of the United States (or perhaps not as dark as it once seemed) as they come to face the apocalypse and the Four Horseman who bring it to the fore. It’s an exhilarating and inventive and smart read, with electric art from Dragotta. Plus, this brings the entire series into one giant phone book-sized release for under $60. What’s not to like?
