The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of November 11th

It’s a triple SWORDS week, my favorite ongoing sees a new issue arrive, a couple awaited graphic novel drops, but in this week’s edition of The Pull, we’re leading off with a small town Irish ghost story because COMICS!

Book of the Week: Scarenthood #1

I mentioned this quite a bit when cartoonist Nick Roche was on Off Panel, but Scarenthood – #1 at least, as I haven’t read any of the other issues – is an extremely good comic. Part family drama, part small town comedy, part scary ghost-ish story, Roche and colorist Chris O’Halloran manage to blend those disparate ideas into a single comic that straight up bangs, with Roche’s cartooning and characterization leading the way.

It might be a tough sell for some, as the market for Irish family ghost stories isn’t necessarily robust. But to simplify the story a little bit, if you’re in the market for a great comic from a great creator, Scarenthood should be up your alley because it is both of those things.
