The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of October 25th

This is a wild trade waiting week, but there’s plenty to be excited about in a dense week of releases. Let’s look at all that and more in the latest edition of The Pull.

Comic of the Week: The Flash #2

I believe when the first issue of this was going to drop, I put this as a TBD. The main reason was skepticism about the art of the book. It’s not that I don’t like Mike Deodato, Jr., it’s that I questioned whether he had the energy necessary to make a speedster like Wally West work. Well, I ended up buying the first issue, and I can say this: I liked it a whole lot. Deodato fit the cosmic horror of the story, and he made the speed elements work well enough. Meanwhile, Si Spurrier did exactly what I hoped he’d do: tell a Flash story unlike any I’d read before, but one that worked incredibly well. I’m into it, and excited to see what this team does going forward.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: The Nice House on the Lake Deluxe Edition HC

The Nice House on the Lake is a great series, and if you missed out on it in single issues, well, you’re in luck. This deluxe edition hardcover collects the whole series in one book and features a whole bunch of bonus content on top of that. Come for the James Tynion IV, stick around for the Álvaro Martínez Bueno and Jordie Bellaire of it all. One of the best looking books you can ask for, and one that perpetually surprises you throughout.
