Chip Chat Vol. 8: Let’s Navigate!

Well, we made it to San Diego Comic Con and we both survived the experience, so it’s time once again for Chip Zdarsky to join me for one of our patented Chip Chats.

And this time, we’re going to cover one of the most asked about topics after our viewer-driven Q&A in July, and no, it’s not about rumored members of Chip’s Avengers squad. Well, we kind of talk about that most asked about topic, that is, as the focus of this episode is really on how Zdarsky navigates the ever-changing world of comics, both from a creative and career standpoint. While we start by recapping his time at San Diego Comic Con and the premiere for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we quickly transition into our main topic, with a lot of the focus being on Marvel’s big changes this year — Stephen Wacker in as the new editor in chief! its SVP Print, Sales & Marketing David Gabriel and its head of Comics & Franchise Dan Buckley are out, or will be eventually in Buckley’s case! the whole company is moving to California! — and how that affects him. But that’s not all! It’s really a big sprawling conversation about that core topic with a whole lot of Marvel talk thrown in.

As with previous episodes, this Chip Chat can both be watched and read, with both available here on SKTCHD and just the video on the SKTCHD YouTube. But only SKTCHD subscribers will get access to the text version of the conversation, which has been edited for length and clarity. So, if your preference is to read rather than watch, then I have good news for you: You can read these interviews if you subscribe to SKTCHD — and only if you subscribe!

It’s time for yet another Chip Chat, though, so let’s navigate ourselves down into just that.
