The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of July 10th
Well, it’s a big week, because it’s a week that features the debut of a new era for the X-Men. What could possibly go wrong? Let’s look at that release and more in this week’s edition of The Pull.
Comic of the Week: X-Men #1
Here it is. The moment we’ve all been waiting for/dreading/ambivalent about/terrified of. I say all those things because I honestly cannot tell how people are feeling about this upcoming From the Ashes era for the X-Men beyond the fact that, uh, they seem to be feeling a lot. I’ve heard this is a solid, action-packed read, though, and I’m in at least for the start to see what Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman are cooking up for us in this X-Men squad’s new home of Alaska. Oh, and officially: I’m in the “waiting for” camp. I will give any new X-Men era a shot.
Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Kill Your Darlings TP
I missed this series during its original single issue run, but the Eisner Award nominated series is collected in full here. I heard good things, and always meant to talk to the crew of Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan, and Bob Quinn about this book but never got to it. I’ll be making up for lost time here, and I’m excited to see what they cooked up in Kill Your Darlings.
