The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of February 4th

It’s a big week in comics for one very specific reason, so let’s get straight into this edition of The Pull to underline why that’s the case.

Comic of the Week: The Nice House by the Sea #7

The Nice House by the Sea is a great comic, and it’s lovely to see the return of this series from James Tynion IV and Álvaro Martínez Bueno for that reason alone. But that’s not why it’s the pick here, or at least not primarily. The main reason is what you can see in the top left corner of its cover: Vertigo is back, baby! Amongst a great many reasons to be excited about this new release, that logo’s presence and what it means tops the list. Welcome back, Vertigo!

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Absolute Batman Vol. 2

I don’t know if you’ve heard but Absolute Batman is pretty good! It’s a rock solid comic book, and there’s a reason it made my Comics of 2025 list. But it’s worth noting that I genuinely believe this second arc, the “Abomination” arc, was even better than the first six issues of the series. Bane’s an incredible villain, and once he showed up, this book got even spicier and shocking and tragic. If you’re trade-waiting this series, congratulations: You’re about to pick up a great read!
