The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of April 15th
It’s a light week of releases on The Pull, but there are some killer books in here. So, let’s look at my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics, led by a Party Boy who has found himself in a bit of trouble.

Comic of the Week: End of Life #3
Two issues in and this series from Kyle Starks, Steve Pugh, Chris O’Halloran, and friends is my clubhouse leader for “favorite new wave Vertigo series” (non-Nice House division), as it has all the things you want out of a Kyle Starks comic — humor, heart, badassery, nonsense (complimentary), etc. — and glorious Steve Pugh art. It’s building up a world and telling a small story at the same time, and I really, really dig it. It’s an action comic but with rich characterization, as well as a healthy portion of deeply absurd things. I really dig it, so I’m naturally excited to read more of it. You should be too.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Bury Me Already (It’s Nice Down Here)
I shared this already when cartoonist Julia Wertz was on the podcast this week, but Bury Me Already (It’s Nice Down Here) will be in The SKTCHD AWRDS. I’m normally uneasy about calling my shot so early in the year, but my willingness to do so should speak to how much I like this comic. It’s a book about Wertz’s journey to becoming a parent (and her experiences of being one), but it’s really about her life and all the things that happen during a span of time that includes her pregnancy ride, raising a kid, living through a pandemic and great world turmoil, and an array of other challenges and joys and experiences. I’m not a parent, but this is still almost certainly going to be the funniest and most thoughtful comic I read all year. Wertz is incredible at what she does, and I couldn’t enjoy her work more.
