The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of July 8th

It’s a big week of comics, one filled with tons of competitors for the top spots. But there can only be one, so let’s look at my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics, led by the return of a couple favorites.

Comic of the Week: DIE: Loaded #7

After the disastrous end of the first arc (for the cast) that was also a riveting conclusion (for readers), I’m genuinely curious to see where this story goes from here because of how seismic its finale was. But that’s all a good thing, as that means I don’t know what’s coming but I’m excited to find out. That’s what Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, and Clayton Cowles routinely do on this Image Comics series, and I’m all the way in on discovering what the next shocking change will be.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Wrestle Heist TP

This comic is exactly what it sounds like, as it features a group of wrestlers planning a heist of a Wrestlemania type event. It’s also written and drawn by Kyle Starks, so you know this comic will combine a great concept with exceptional characterization and deeply ridiculous dialogue (complimentary) and surprising poignancy, at times. This was a very underrated comic, and if you want a premium read this week, Wrestle Heist is my top pick. It’s a genuine hoot.
