The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of July 22nd

We have a fun week of comics waiting for us in shops this week, and I’m pumped. Let’s talk about what I’m so pumped about in specific, as we dig into my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics, led by the Absolute headliner.

Comic of the Week: Absolute Wonder Woman #22

As much as I love Absolute Batman, as much as I adored Absolute Martian Manhunter, as much as I rep for Absolute Green Lantern, and as much as I’m impressed by the continued rise of Absolute Superman, let’s be real: Absolute Wonder Woman is still top of the pops. This series never misses a beat, and Dillon Snook’s addition in this mini-arc has been tremendous. This book is elite, elite, elite, and it never stops being so. I love it.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring TP

I’m a trade waiter for Beneath the Trees, like a monster, but that doesn’t mean I’m not excited! Patrick Horvath is a genius and so is Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, so I am pumped to see what they cooked up in this latest story about an anthropomorphic bear serial killer we can’t help but love (to read about). But most of all, I’m here for the art, because Horvath’s gouache work remains undefeated.
