The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of June 10th

Another slow rolled week in comics, as it’s a relatively quiet one for the top publishers. Still plenty of gems to come, so let’s get to my buys, recommendations and curiosities for the week of comics in The Pull.

Book of the Week: Steeple TP

I read and loved the first issue of Steeple, John Allison’s latest solo joint with colorist Sarah Stern and letterer Jim Campbell. And yet, I didn’t buy all of the single issues because I decided to get it in trade. I’ve regretted it ever since, as everything I’ve heard and everything I’ve read about it and from it has convinced me of the foolishness of my ways.

It makes sense that this would happen. John Allison is about as close as you can get as my idealized comic book creator, and I really should just buy every new comic he does, perhaps even multiple times for CGC purposes (one can never be too safe). For some reason I didn’t here, but I can’t wait to read both this trade and then its follow-up in Allison’s webcomic Steeple story, The Silvery Moon. It will be a #blessed day, as that means I get double the John Allison. Yes!
