Book of the Week: The Many Deaths of Laila Starr #1

I’ve already written about this comic in Comics Disassembled and talked about it with writer Ram V on Off Panel, so I’m going to keep this brief by saying this: I would be surprised if this wasn’t the best, or at least one of the best, debuts of the entire year. In this story of a god turned mortal, the unexpected is around every corner, but what you’re certain to find is about as much craft and clever storytelling as one could ever hope for from a comic. Ram V and Filipe Andrade slay this issue. I cannot wait to read the rest of it. It’s going to be a treasure, plain and simple.
