It’s a new year, and Marvel’s starting things off hot with the beginning of the end for the Krakoa Era. Let’s get to that and more in The Pull.
Comic of the Week: Fall of the House of X #1
I thought about bopping this one from the top spot because it’s $5.99, which annoys me, but of course it’s $5.99. It ultimately takes the spot because it’s the beginning of the end of this era for the X-Men, and I’d be lying if I said any other comic from the week was more exciting to me. Gerry Duggan and Lucas Werneck kick this whole thing off, and I’m very interested to see how this stretch on Krakoa ends in this and Rise of the Powers of X (which launches next week).
One other note: I’m glad they had a cover from House of X artist Pepe Larraz at least! If they can’t have him on interiors, at least there’s a hat tip towards the artist’s contributions to this era with that.
“You’re coming with me”: The for sure buys and recommendations of the week
Batman #141: I’ve really enjoyed what Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jimenez have been doing with Zur-En-Arrh throughout this run, and the last issue ended in the spiciest possible place. I am intrigued!
Birds of Prey #5: This arc is not over but unfortunately artist Leonardo Romero’s taking a break in the midst of it. I don’t blame him! He’s been putting together incredible work that’s a lot to take on. But it’s just unfortunate from a reader standpoint, is this arc completing with one artist would definitely elevate it a fair bit.
Doctor Strange #11: My shop was shorted pretty much all of its Marvel A covers recently, so I am still behind on this book. But I’m awfully fond of it and excited to catch up, because it’s been really solid so far.
Fantastic Four #15: This series has been so fun, and Alex Ross’ cover for it is so bonkers. I’m very into this Fantastic Four run.
Pine and Merrimac #1: Kyle Starks is the selling point of this new series, but that Fran Galan art sure looks pretty nice too.
Would buy, but I’m a dirty, rotten trade waiter
