The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of June 24th

Things are getting rather heavy here in The Pull, so let’s look at a loaded week of comics as I share my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from a robust slate of glorious releases.

Comic of the Week: The Flash #34

While no comic starring a Justice Leaguer really needs a significant push, I just wanted to emphasize here that Ryan North and Gavin Guidry’s The Flash is a genuine blast and the exact type of superhero comic I want more of. It’s fun, it’s smart, and it’s filled with pitch-perfect characterization, all of which is expertly depicted by Guidry. If you’re a Flash fan, if you’re not a Flash fan, this comic is for you. North is doing for The Flash what he did for the Fantastic Four, albeit in a completely different flavor. So, get on it, folks! This is a superhero comic done right, and this Grodd-tastic issue should be more of the same.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Zdarsky Comic News: Eighteen Months I Can’t Get Back TP

Is it all semi-promotional talk about comics that have come and gone already? To some degree. But it’s a very unique flavor of it, with this book acting as an incredibly entertaining artifact that celebrates a delightful moment from recent comic history.
