The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of March 22nd
It’s a robust week for The Pull! There’s plenty of buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics to go through, so let’s do it!
Comic of the Week: Superman #2
I have to say: I really enjoyed the first issue of this. A big part of that was Jamal Campbell’s art, because he’s amongst my very favorite artists working today, and he brings a fresh energy to a character that often feels rooted in similar art styles. That first issue popped in a real way thanks to Campbell. But writer Joshua Williamson’s interplay between Superman/Clark Kent and the rest of the cast stood out as well, particularly whatever is going on with Lex Luthor and Lexcorp (or whatever they’re calling it here). So there’s a lot going on here that I like. We’ll see if it keeps cooking here, and I’m betting it will.
Trade of the Week: Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Omnibus
As I may have mentioned, I’m not a huge fan of omnibuses. As I may have also mentioned, I am a giant fan of the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. A love and a hate collide here, and the winner is…me! I don’t have any of this series collected, so getting a single monster book that collects all of it actually makes sense for once. If I can find it, of course. That’s the big TBD, as per usual. But revisiting Ryan North, Erica Henderson, Derek Charm, Rico Renzi, and friends masterclass in friendship and fun sounds like a delight, even if it does come in this absurd form.
