The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of March 5th
My trade waiting ways are paying off in a major way here, as there are multiple collections I’ve been anticipating arriving in one week. So, let’s get straight to it, as I highlight my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics.

Comic of the Week: The Nice House by the Sea #6
I kind of feel like this series has hit its metronome moment, as people have started to sleep on its quality as the larger Nice House story continues onwards. But let me just say this: It’s as sharp and smart and gorgeous as ever. If you’ve been missing out on what James Tynion IV, Álvaro Martínez Bueno, Jordie Bellaire, and AndWorld design are cooking here, it’s yet another good time to get onboard. This is a great comic book series.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Chew Nomnibus TP
Chew was lowkey the crown jewel of Image Comics’ arguable apex from, let’s say, 2009 to 2015. It might not have sold as much as The Walking Dead or Saga, but it was proof of concept that any idea — in this case, a cop with the power to know the history of anything as soon as he eats it, and the journey that gift takes him on — could become a) a great comic and/or b) a great seller. John Layman and Rob Guillory did a heck of a thing here, and this Nomnibus (which presumably ends their run of collecting the series into different formats, at least for now) packages the entire series into one giant book for one kind of amazing price. It’s a heck of a thing.
