The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of May 6
After a couple mammoth weeks, things die down a bit in The Pull. But this look at my buys, recommendations, and curiosities does have a good one at the top, as a personal hype book steps in as my book of the week.
Book of the Week: Twig #1
This is another “feeling” comic for me. I’m not going to lie: I have no idea what Twig is about! This new Image series from Skottie Young, Kyle Strahm, Jean-Francois Beaulieu, and Nate Piekos is my book of the week, and it appears to be about assorted monsters and a General Grievous variant. You know what? I should find out what this comic is about.
Give me a second.
Okay, that sounds even better! Apparently it’s a five issue mini-series about a character named Twig’s journey to save his world, which is…pretty much exactly what I expected! I picked up Bone vibes even before seeing the hype in that direction from the solicit, and that’s part of the reason I’m into it. Strahm’s cover just has “fully realized fantasy story” energy to it, something that feels destined to be an instant classic even if I can’t particularly say why. Like I said, though, I have a feeling about this one, and it’s a feeling of pending greatness. Let’s see if I’m right!
