The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of November 20th
It’s a big week with some personal favorites waiting for me on the shelves. But what takes the lead in my two vaunted highlight spots? Let’s find out as I explore my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics in the latest edition of The Pull.
Comic of the Week: Where Monsters Lie: Cull-De-Sac #2
In a week with no clear headliner on the single issue front, let’s give a shout to the second volume of Kyle Starks and Piotr Kowalski’s great, strange, and engaging gated community for slasher villains series. The first one was a blast, and the second one might be even more entertaining, as the stage has been set, more villains are introduced, and the few heroes in this story are put into some, uh, wildly unexpected situations. I really dig this series, and it sort of feels like one of the more slept on Kyle Starks joints these days. Don’t sleep, folks. Where Monsters Lies rocks.
Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Hirayasumi Vol. 3 GN
If you’re looking for elite visual storytelling and the most charming read in comics, look no further than Keigo Shinzo’s Hirayasumi, which…kind of has its third volume come out this week? I bought it something like ten days ago, so who knows. This is when it’s scheduled to hit comic shops, though, and I could not recommend this series more highly. There’s nothing else like it, and it’s — in my opinion — the best hang out comic going these days. And you know that means a lot to me!
