The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of September 27th

We continue our hot streak, as we have a whole lot of comics showing up on every level. Let’s get to it in this week’s edition of The Pull.

Comic of the Week: Newburn #11

I highlighted this series not long ago in this very column, but I wanted to do it once again, and for a good reason. Newburn has elevated its game since its return. Not only are Chip Zdarsky and Jacob Phillips crushing it on the main story, but David Brothers and Nick Dragotta are doing something special in the backup. Newburn is wall to wall greatness right now, and it deserves some love. If you’re into crime comics with a unique angle, this one is for you.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Mobilis: My Life With Captain Nemo GN

This is purely a Juni Ba play. I have faith in his continued growth, and that at a bare minimum, Mobilis will be something quite unlike anything else I’ll read…ever? Ba has a perspective and style completely his own, and while I don’t always love his work, I always appreciate it. Even better: I’m always down with a good Captain Nemo or Captain Nemo adjacent story! Juni Ba doing Captain Nemo is even more exciting!
