Retailer Check-In: Looking at How House of X and Powers of X Are Shaping Up
I may have mentioned it, but Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men relaunch has been of interest to me. I loved House of X #1, Powers of X #1 did much the same for me, and it feels like the X-Men with a big, sprawling plan for the first time in a while. Plus, I mean…the data pages. I love it.
So it’s a creative hit for sure, and the buzz has been palpable on social media. It’s the #1 topic on the comics internet when 30 to 50 feral hogs aren’t getting in the way, and it’s almost universally positive. But how is it playing in comic shops? Is the response in terms of sales to customers matching the conversation? With both series now launched, I wanted to check in with comic shops to get insight into that, as well as perspective on the response both anecdotally and in terms of the first wave of titles set to come after these launch minis.
