What an exhausting week. Let’s get to the week that was in Comics Disassembled, my look at ten things I liked or didn’t like from the week of comics, led by secrets becoming a lot less secret.

Men, Behaving Badly-
Everything about Stewart already got my hate fire burning, but then Ellis, then his statement, then:

There’s no way he doesn’t know he’s on an entirely different level than women decades his junior, even if he values his work differently than others do.
Just anger.

DC, To the Max-

DC is also apparently replacing its Walmart Giants product with four pack grab bags of comics that cost $8.98
They were already doing this? I’ve gotten a free grab badge from my Walmart to see what came in them. They were $10 though, and they were more recent back issues, like within a couple of years. One has a King Batman issue and an issue of that Manapul Trinity series.

Comics, Coming and Going-

While I’m not a huge fan of Tynion’s work
Have you tried * Something is Killing the Children*? It is very good.

The Walking Dead, Living-

it actually makes me less likely to buy it than I would otherwise.
David, you’re gonna end up buying it and loving it and is gonna be on your comics of the year and you’ll talk about wanting to rip the stupid corner off of the comic.

X of Swords, XXIV Long-
I surprisingly have no opinion on this. I’m getting all of it, I’m excited for it, but it is probably a bit unnecessary. Do I hand a feeling that some of the issues are gonna be the same as they were before but with an XoS dress on them? Yeah. Is that a huge problem? Kinda? It’s comics!

Free Comic Book Day, Free Comic Book Day Summer, Free Comic Book Day…Forever-
Matthew shops could individually do a big day at the end when they have all the issues? They wouldn’t be as hot, but you could still market that you have a big ol stack of free comics?

Appreciate you taking the time to address this week’s… revelations in this way, head-on. It’s been a very sobering week, but also clearly a necessary one long overdue (which seems to be the theme this month in America).

I’m going to do my best to be more aware of folks abusing their power at future vending events. I believe communicating concerning behavior to those who you are close to at the show can go a long way VS. being passive about yellow flags.

I had addressed it in a more personal way initially, but I realized if I made it about me at all, I’d be just doing what I gave Ellis guff for doing. I appreciate you appreciating how I handled it, as it can be tough to handle right.
