This week’s longform was all about the making of Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., one of my all-time favorite comics, as you likely know. A lot of people understand my deep adoration of this series by writer Warren Ellis, artist Stuart Immonen, inker Wade von Grawbadger, colorist Dave McCaig, letterers Chris Eliopoulos and Joe Caramagna, and editor Nick Lowe, but on occasion, others wonder where my love comes from. There are a ton of reasons for that, but one thing that stands out about it is just how dang memorable it is. There are so many immediately iconic moments that, if you’re a fan, you can immediately tout. It’s like how an incredibly quotable movie can’t help but become a favorite of yours: it’s just stuck with you.

But which scenes are the best? And which are the preferred moments of the people I talked to for this piece? Let’s find out as I count down the definitive ten best scenes from this series and a couple honorable mentions, to boot. That’s right! Definitive! As in I definitely did not reorder these several times while writing this very article. There’s no way that happened!
