The Pull: A Look at the Comics Dropping the Week of June 14th

A light week is made up for by some elite comics at the top. Let’s get to those and more in The Pull, a look at my buys, recommendations, and curiosities from the week of comics.

Comic of the Week: Great British Bump-Off #3

I haven’t read this issue yet! It’s the first time a print issue has hit that I hadn’t read before release, so I am extra eager for this puppy. I’m a giant fan of John Allison and Max Sarin, and this series has been a pleasure so far, which is a wonderful and perhaps thing to say about an Agatha Christie-style mystery about a poisoning set during the filming of a competitive baking show. But hey, that’s the Allison and Sarin way! When they do dark, it’s still light, like a peak of its powers mousse. And it’s all the better for it.

Trade/Graphic Novel of the Week: Night Fever

The selling point, as per usual, is that this is Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips doing Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips things. Any time they release a comic, it’s locked in as one of my books of the week. This one is no different, as they take a turn after a wave of Reckless releases to play in another assuredly illicit, assuredly criminal sandbox. I can’t wait to see what they cook up for us.
